Job Summary/Description:                         

KKTV is searching for our next chief meteorologist to lead our 11 Breaking Weather Team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for delivering accurate and compelling weather forecasts to our community in Southern Colorado. As the leader of our weather team, you will collaborate closely with our meteorologists, news managers, and producers to provide comprehensive weather coverage for our newscasts, streaming updates, digital and social content, and breaking weather coverage.

Duties/Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

* Analyze raw scientific data, models, and other available and relevant information to create an accurate weather forecast for our viewing area
* Create a compelling, conversational presentation of weather forecast for broadcast, streaming, digital, and social media audiences
* Identify and communicate the "weather story of the day" to a cross-platform audience
Accurately forecast and track severe weather

Qualifications/Requirements:

* At least 6 years of experience as a broadcast meteorologist preferred
* Operational radar knowledge and excellent command of the WSI MAX system preferred
* BS/BA in Meteorology/Atmospheric Science/Communications/Journalism or equivalent background. Seals of the National Weather Association and/or American Meteorological Society are preferred.
* Flexibility with respect to scheduling and/or assigned work shifts, especially considering the unpredictable nature of weather events
* Proficiency in producing written weather content for our digital platforms
* A clean driving record, the ability to drive in various weather conditions, and a valid driver's license are a requirement for this position
