Production Assistant

Job description

The 2024 Annual Festival showcases various artistic styles and genres, from visual art and film to live contemporary dance and music, in indoor and outdoor settings. The mission of Kaatsbaan is to offer an extraordinary environment for cultural innovation and excellence by providing artists at any stage of their careers with creative residencies at state-of-the-art facilities, and presenting audiences and communities with annual outdoor festivals, educational programs, and seasonal events.

Production Assistant Responsibilities

Seasonal - Part Time Position; September 3 - October 11, 2024

  • Production Assistant will report to and work closely with the Event Producer; they will play an important role in supporting the performances, events, and overall operations of the 2024 Annual Festival
  • Assist in the coordination and execution of a variety of daily festival site set up, performance and productions needs
  • Coordinate, schedule, supervise festival crew, intern, and volunteers
  • Provide production support during rehearsals and performances, manage and wrangle artists, assist with backstage operations, wardrobe, coordinate with front of house staff
  • Assist with the creation and distribution of production-related documents and information to the cast and crew (production schedules, run of show, staffing call times) and assist with post-show event reports
  • Take notes during rehearsals and performances as needed
  • Greet artists upon arrival, distribute room keys, organize and set up artist hospitality
  • Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment
  • Must be able to commit to working every performance and event (all weekends)

Qualifications

  • Interest in Kaatsbaan’s mission and commitment to serving the arts and its community
  • Position requires knowledge and interest in event management and stagecraft, stage production work, crew management, stage management, front of house. Some knowledge of technical stage production is a plus.
  • A high level of professional consideration when interacting with visiting artists, crews, staff, volunteers, and audience members
  • Commitment to an equitable and inclusive community
  • Able to work as a team player in a fast-paced festival environment; flexible can-do attitude; keen attention to detail; superbly professional demeanor
  • Able to do physical labor, lift heavy items (30+ pounds), walk distances, work outdoors, climb stairs, balance, squat, kneel, crouch, verbally communicate
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel)

Job Types: Part-time, Temporary

Pay: $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 15 – 20 per week
