About Kasmira The Artist: Kasmira is a mid-level visual artist and poet dedicated to creating thought-provoking art that transcends time and space, fostering healing, transformation, and resilience. Inspired by Afrofuturism, Afro Spiritualism, and the legacies of the Harlem Renaissance and Dada Movement, Kasmira’s work aims to illuminate paths toward futures where cultural narratives harmonize with spiritual potential. Her mission is to unite viewers in a shared celebration of the limitless possibilities of the soul.

Role Overview: Kasmira is seeking a dynamic and organized intern with expertise in Instagram and a passion for the visual arts. The intern will create and execute an outreach plan to grow Kasmira’s network of fellow artists, curators, art critics, museums, and galleries. This is an exciting opportunity for someone looking to build a career in the visual arts, community organizing, and marketing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive Instagram strategy to enhance Kasmira’s online presence, aligning with the mission to foster deep connections and understanding.
  • Create and manage engaging content for Kasmira’s Instagram account, including posts, stories, and reels that celebrate the diversity of experiences and perspectives.
  • Write press releases and make cold calls to secure opportunities in museums and blue-chip galleries, emphasizing the innovative and spiritually provocative nature of Kasmira’s work.
  • Foster a sense of community within Kasmira’s network to facilitate collaborations and exhibitions that resonate with the values of inclusivity and connection.
  • Organize and maintain a database of contacts, including artists, curators, critics, museums, and galleries.
  • Monitor and analyze Instagram metrics to adjust strategies for better engagement and growth, ensuring the vision of bridging past, present, and future through art.
  • Assist in marketing and outreach activities, ensuring consistent branding and messaging that align with Kasmira’s values of healing, empowerment, and spirituality.
  • Engage with Kasmira’s audience and network through comments, messages, and live sessions to create a supportive and inclusive community.

Qualifications:

  • Strong expertise in Instagram, with a deep understanding of its features, trends, and best practices.
  • Passion for the visual arts and a career goal within the art world.
  • Excellent organizational skills and an ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Strong writing skills, with the ability to craft compelling press releases and outreach emails.
  • Comfortable with making cold calls and engaging with diverse groups of people.
  • Knowledge of community organizing and marketing principles.
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative.
  • Creative thinking and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in a similar role or within the art world.
  • Familiarity with other social media platforms and digital marketing tools.
  • Background in art history, fine arts, marketing, or related fields.

  • This internship is unpaid and offers college credit if applicable. There is no guaranteed payment for interns however, there is an opportunity for compensation if artwork is sold or if grants are secured.
  • The internship will provide training and hands-on experience in Instagram marketing, community outreach, and networking within the art world.
  • The internship can be integrated with the intern’s formal education program to receive academic credit.
  • The internship will accommodate the intern’s academic commitments by corresponding to the academic calendar.
  • The duration of the internship is limited to the period necessary to provide the intern with beneficial learning experiences.
  • The intern’s work will complement, not displace, the work of paid employees while providing significant educational benefits.
  • There is no entitlement to a paid job at the conclusion of the internship.
