Role Overview:

The Graphic Design Intern at Electric Potential plays a crucial role in creating designs enhance our brand awareness. This role will work on creating brand elements and guidelines as well as graphics for marketing purposes, including our website and digital publications. This role involves close collaboration with design team peers, the Design Manager, and the Director of Design, and occasionally the Executive Director for higher-level needs. The Graphic Design Intern will ensure that all graphic design work aligns with our mission of empowering youth through media literacy and storytelling. This position is ideal for those who have a strong commitment to social change, exceptional writing skills, and a passion for fostering excellence and inclusivity in digital media.

Duration: 4 months, with the option to commit longer based on performance. This role has a minimum commitment of 10 hours per week.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Create brand elements, brand guidelines, and graphics for marketing purposes, including our website and digital publications.
  • Collaborate with design team peers, the Design Manager, and the Director of Design to ensure cohesive and integrated graphic design solutions.
  • Create content designs/ visual assets relevant to the content by collaborating with the UX/UI Design Interns and Visual Design Interns.
  • Responsible for translating Data Visualization Specialist’s work into design assets.
  • Participate in collaborative feedback sessions to enhance individual and team performance.
  • Stay up-to-date with design trends, emerging technologies, and industry best practices to drive innovation in graphic design.
  • Maintain consistency with the organization's branding and messaging while adapting designs to suit the requirements of digital content.
  • Push creative boundaries to enhance the visual storytelling of complex topics through graphic design elements.


Requirements:

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Graphic Design, Visual Arts, Web Design, or a related field, and/or proven experience as a graphic designer or similar role.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with design tools such as Adobe Creative Suite and/or Figma required.
  • Graphic design illustration software (e.g. Procreate) experience preferred.
  • Notion experience preferred.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt in a dynamic and evolving environment.
  • Ability to attend monthly 1:1 meetings with the Design Manager.
  • Ability to attend weekly team or department meetings.
  • Ability to attend bi-weekly all hands meetings.


Compensation: This is an unpaid internship/volunteer role.
