Librarian Liaison Coleader

1Cademy is a collaborative community fostering interdisciplinary research and learning through content generation, mapping, and evaluation. Our communities actively conduct research and add valuable knowledge to the platform by summarizing and organizing information on a regular basis. Our platform houses an extensive collection of information on thousands of topics, making it a valuable resource for users. To enhance this resource, we want to reestablish a team of those interested in leading a library and information science (LIS) team that will contribute to the platform and provide support to users from other disciplines. Additionally, this team will act as embedded librarians and help communities stay on track by adhering to our guidelines and assisting in the classification and arrangement of their contributions.

This role is mostly asynchronous except for weekly meetings. The minimum task requirements will take around 10 hours/week. Librarian liaison coleaders will have a great opportunity to apply their knowledge and demonstrate their skills in an innovative, digital educational platform. 

1Cademy Librarian coleaders will start by learning how to use the platform for information management, organization, and dissemination purposes, then you will have the opportunity to: 

  • Use classification, cataloging, and indexing practices to arrange information on our innovative knowledge mapping platform
  • Lead an LIS team
  • Serve as an embedded librarian to support communities in their field of study
  • Guide users in organizing knowledge and developing information literacy skills
  • Work with our development team on improving online research/learning 
  • Collaboratively identify and resolve content gaps on the knowledge map
  • Connect with a team of passionate researchers from different fields and schools

Qualifications  

  • Enthusiasm for topics related to information/knowledge building
  • Strong information literacy skills
  • Fluency in writing and reading in English
  • Ability to verbally communicate effectively and moderate team meetings
  • Experience and willingness to work in collaborative environments 
  • Students interested in the field of Library Science, Information Science, or related disciplines
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills 
  • Ability to engage in group discourse to ideate and resolve complex issues
  • Motivated to complete tasks asynchronously 

 Responsibilities

  • Use the 1Cademy platform to organize and manage information 
  • Support communities in their information abstraction, organization, and dissemination
  • Work with a team to develop and improve the Library Science area of the map 
  • Support research projects by summarizing background literature
  • Work with a team of UX designers to develop tutorials and guides for platform use
  • Develop Information Search Process (ISP) and Information Literacy Instruction (ILI) guides
  • Work remotely for all interactions, task fulfillment, and communications 

 

Note: Participation is UNPAID and will be solely for the purpose of improving research and education, and this position meets US Department of Labor Federal Internship Guidelines.
