What will I do as a Billing and AP Specialist?
This position will be responsible for billing collection processes for all programs as well as the account payable process.

  • Maintain required billing records and patient insurance information according to Medicaid, Medicare, Commercial Insurance guidelines, HIPAA, and other department guidelines.
  • Ensuring all electronic and paper claim submissions processed efficiently through payer systems, following up and rebilling claims as necessary
  • Contact insurance companies regarding client insurance coverage, insurance verification and eligibility, medical billing codes, and payment/nonpayment status
  • Follow-up clients and private payers regarding owed co-pays or fees as outlined by the Sliding Fee Program regarding payment/non-payment status.
  • Manage the Accounts Payable process, ensuring timely and accuracy.

What are the requirements?

  • An associate or bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance or equivalent work experience.
  • Prior experience in accounting and/or finance, preferably in a non-profit or social services field, is also required.
  • Three or more years of related experience in medical billing required, preferably in a social services, behavioral health, or medical environment.
  • Prior experience on Behavioral Health billing to a variety of insurances, including but not limited to Medicare, Medicaid, Medicaid/Medicare HMO’s, and Commercial Insurances.
  • Prior experience using accounting software (QuickBooks) is a plus.
