Hospital Financial Reporting Lead

 

Are you passionate about promoting transparency in healthcare finance and ensuring equitable access to quality care for all?  The Office of Community Health Systems is seeking a dynamic individual to join our team as the Hospital Financial Reporting Lead for our Charity Care Program.

 

 

Join a collaborative and passionate team doing the important work of helping patients become more educated consumers of healthcare. Contribute to greater data transparency and quality, informing efforts to develop health policy by providing information necessary for analysis of health care issues.  Help chart a course for the program during a period of growth and change, as we respond to recent legislation that requires additional hospital financial, charity care, and community benefit reporting.

As the Hospital Financial Reporting Lead within the Charity Care Program, you will serve as a technical expert to:

  • Ensure the integrity, accuracy, and timely completion of hospital financial and charity care reporting requirements.
  • Evaluate, monitor, and analyze community hospital data and produce reports and visualizations that display trends in charity care, health care utilization and financial trends over time.
  • Lead complex policy activities such as rulemaking, legislative implementation, and bill analysis, including responding to information requests from a variety of internal and external partners. This position is responsible for preparing standard and ad hoc reports for internal and external partners.
  • Serve as the lead technical specialist and expert for the Hospital Financial Data Repository (HOFIDAR), to ensure continuity of database functionality.

 

Essential Requirements & Qualifications

Note: Experience defined below may have been gained through paid or unpaid activities. Please ensure any relevant experience defined below is outlined in your cover letter, resume, and/or applicant profile.

 

  • Option 1: Eight (8) or more years of experience working in- bookkeeping, accounting, or financial analysis.

 

OR

 

  • Option 2: A bachelor's degree or higher with major study in accounting, finance, economics, business management, health care administration, public administration, or closely allied field; AND Three (3) or more years of experience working in bookkeeping, accounting, or financial analysis.

 

AND (for BOTH the above options):

  • Two (2) or more years of experience working in hospital/healthcare administration, public health, or allied field.
  • Proficient in Excel functions that support processing and analyzing data, including data sorting and filtering, table creation and manipulation, conditional formatting, and use of basic to intermediate complexity formulas.
  • Working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and the preparation and analysis of financial statements.
