Broadcast TV Technician - #24-1258

Job Overview

This position is responsible for the operation, maintenance, installation, repair and construction of transmitting, receiving, control, input or other mechanical or electronic equipment (whether stationary, portable, or mobile) used in the origination, recording, playback and/or transmission of video and audio. This will include recording, playback, editing and maintenance and operation of Air Stations equipment as FCC and Company may require.

 

Qualifications

  • Experience with Master Control automation, Crispin Automation switching systems, and ENG/Sat truck operation preferred
  • High level of organization. Must be able to communicate effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to solve unusual or unexpected problems
  • Sight, hearing, and manual dexterity to certify proper video and audio quality, driving vehicles, and operating necessary equipment
  • Mobility to retrieve materials from various locations in the station and to set-up cabling and equipment at live news sites
  • Current SBE certification in Television Broadcasting a plus
  • Must have a valid unrestricted New York State driver’s license and safe driving history as determined by the company. Driving record will be checked.

 

Job Responsibilities

  • On-air switching of programming and commercial insertion
  • Keeping FCC station and program logs
  • Recording and preparation of video/audio material for program and news play-out
  • Transmitter remote control operation
  • Weekly EAS Operations that comply with FCC requirements
  • Audio operation for production and/or live news
  • Operation of ENG vehicles
  • Basic equipment maintenance
  • Understand end-user functional requirements Install and configure systems in a way that reflects the intended system design Program broadcast gear (including routers, switchers, mixers, CG, etc.)
  • Communicate status updates. Discuss issues and provide suggestions in a clear manner.
  • Work with on-site tech team to identify and finalize punch list items
  • Other Master Control Room Operations as assigned by Assistant Chief Engineer

Compensation and Benefits

The hourly rate of pay for this position is $18 to $20 per hour.
