Grant Writing Internship

Are you an aspiring grant writer eager to gain hands-on experience in the world of arts administration? Florida Grand Opera invites motivated individuals to join our team as Grant Writer Interns for the upcoming season. This internship provides a unique opportunity to contribute to the sustainability and growth of Florida's oldest performing arts institution while honing your skills in grant research, writing, and fundraising.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in researching potential grant opportunities from government agencies, foundations, and corporate sponsors that align with Florida Grand Opera's mission and programs.
  • Work closely with the development team to gather necessary information and data for grant proposals, including program descriptions, budget details, and impact metrics.
  • Draft compelling grant proposals, letters of inquiry, and grant reports under the guidance of experienced professionals, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and adherence to funder guidelines.
  • Conduct thorough prospect research to identify new funding sources and cultivate relationships with potential donors and partners.
  • Support the grant management process by tracking deadlines, reporting requirements, and grant outcomes to ensure compliance and accountability.

Requirements:

  • Strong written communication skills, with the ability to craft persuasive narratives and articulate complex ideas in a clear and concise manner.
  • Excellent research skills, with a knack for gathering and synthesizing information from diverse sources to support grant proposals and fundraising efforts.
  • Detail-oriented approach, with a commitment to accuracy and precision in grant writing, budgeting, and documentation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and familiarity with online research tools and databases.
  • Enthusiasm for learning and a willingness to take on new challenges in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Prior coursework or experience in nonprofit management, fundraising, grant writing, or related fields is preferred but not required.
  • Availability to commit 15–20 hours per week to the internship, with flexible scheduling options to accommodate academic or other commitments.
