About the role

HomeCook is seeking a passionate and determined Software Engineering Intern to join our team and help us innovate the food industry with the latest technology. This internship is a rare chance to gain hands-on experience with front-end software development while working alongside an agile team.

What you will do

  1. Front-end development: drive the development of the user-friendly web application and its features with React (JavaScript), Framer Motion, and TypeScript, as the primary front-end technology
  2. Upskill: undergo additional training and learning for React JS and stay up-to-date with the latest front-end development trends and best practices
  3. Collaboration with UI/UX: work closely with the UI/UX designer to determine user needs and goals, review wireframes and mockups to provide feedback, and ensure the feasibility of designs
  4. Collaboration with dev and stakeholders: work closely with the back-end developer and founders to ensure alignment and success

Who you are

  1. Software engineering enthusiast: has a basic understanding of TypeScript and React, including HTML + CSS, Javascript, Framer Motion, React fundamentals, JSX, Node and NPM packages, Git
  2. Scholar: intellectually curious. Enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program in a related field.
  3. Self-disciplined: highly organized in executing daily tasks, delivering quality work on time, and managing your time without needing daily supervision. Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently or as part of a team
  4. Strong communicator: have excellent communication skills to engage stakeholders in the development process, able to convey project requirements to team members, and frequently share progress updates
  5. Problem-solver: possess logical thinking, reasoning, and understanding to identify problems, address issues, and discover solutions. Unafraid to think out of the box and make mistakes to learn from them
  6. Mission-driven: aligns with the company’s mission to build local food communities to improve food sustainability and equity

Internship logistics

U.S. college students only with U.S. citizenship or green card.

Hours: 15-20 hours per week during the summer and 5-10 hours per week during the fall/spring semester.

Time period: 6 months starting as soon as possible.
