5515 - Community Engagement Coordinator

Pay Range:
Hiring Range: $52,251 - $62,701 Annually
Full Range: $52,251 - $73,151 Annually 

Salary offers are based on the candidate's equivalent experience and internal equity with other employees within the same job classification.  

This grant-funded position plans, coordinates, and participates in administrative and operational activities associated with pollution prevention, air pollution emissions reductions, and sustainability, specifically for the Cut Down Pollution lawn and garden voucher program, Clean Air Program, and the Climate Pollution Reduction Program. The selected candidate will be responsible for coordinating countywide activities including youth and adult outreach and education, lawn and garden program application and voucher processing, reconciling invoices to process voucher payment, tracking data, monthly grant reporting, stakeholder engagement activities for Climate Pollution Reduction planning efforts, and general administrative duties. In addition, the candidate will administer the Travel Reduction Program for County employees, maintaining intranet pages delivering presentations, conducting surveys, and providing occasional special events promoting clean modes of transportation. Duties and responsibilities can change as community, funder and /or department needs evolve. 

Duties/Responsibilities

Plans, coordinates and participates in administrative and operational activities associated with pollution prevention including reducing air pollution emissions and sustainability for department specific programs such as the “Cut Down Pollution” lawn and garden voucher program, “Clean Air Program” and “Climate Pollution Reduction Program.”

Coordinates countywide activities with youth and the adult outreach and education focused on department pollution prevention programs.

Administers the Travel Reduction Program for County employees including maintaining the intranet pages, delivering presentations, conducting surveys, and providing occasional special events promoting clean modes of transportation.

Performs public relations activities as a program representative, makes program-related presentations to the public and educational institutions, teachers, students and parents, and prepares media materials and participates in the development of community awareness programs.

Evaluates effectiveness and success of programs and participates in meetings to resolve problems, address issues, and discuss program goals and objectives.

Establishes and maintains liaison relationships and coordinates program activities with other departments, public and private agencies, and organizations and groups.

 

Minimum Qualifications

 

(1) Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in public health, environmental studies/science, health education, or a related field as defined by the department head at the time of recruitent and three years of experience coordinating, monitoring, and/or administering program activities

(Relevant professional level experience and/or education from an accredited college or university may be substituted.)

OR

(2) Four years of experience with Pima County in a professional administrative classification.

Preferred Qualifications: (Be specific in describing your experience in your application. Ensure the descriptions provided illustrate your competencies, specifically addressing the required and preferred qualifications.):
 

  1. Minimum one (1) year experience conducting community outreach and education, within the last 5 years. 
  2. Bilingual (English/Spanish).
  3. Experience meeting deadlines while remaining organized and detail-oriented.
  4. Experience in Word, Excel, and ability to learn additional programs such as Accela and Advantage.
  5. Experience delivering excellent verbal and written communication throughout the division/department.
  6. Experience working collaboratively with a variety of people.
  7. Experience with/knowledge of environmental quality principles and practices and public health education and enforcement.
