Intern – Grant Support (Fiscal Management)

The Transportation Department of the North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG) is seeking an Intern to support fiscal monitoring of transportation projects by creating invoices, recording metadata, completing data entry, creating documentation, and assessing outstanding actions. This position seeks a detail-oriented and process-minded student, with the ability to organize documentation, research previous actions, conduct financial analysis, and implement action plans. The individual in this position will gain hands-on experience learning essential skills and knowledge of new information systems and be a part of a supportive environment where your ideas are valued, and your growth is encouraged.

Ideal candidates should be able to work at least 25 hours per week while attending school. NCTCOG offices are located in Arlington, Texas.

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Receiving invoices and entering data into information systems
  • Updating workflows and collaborating with team members to help streamline processes and workflows for increased productivity and effectiveness
  • Organizing and compiling documents to ensure they are easily accessible and up-to-date
  • Creating clear and visually appealing tables, flowcharts, and process documentation to help team understand complex concepts

Required Skills:

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to listen to and follow instructions and coordinate with other team members
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Highly organized, with an ability to manage multiple assignments/tasks and work well in a deadline-driven environment without diminishing quality of work
  • Strong reasoning skills, with the ability to identify data discrepancies
  • Willingness to learn and accept new techniques, integrating new procedures into daily job functions quickly
  • Ability to assess historical actions, interpret communications, compile documentation, and summarize findings

Required Education and Experience:

  • Must be attending an accredited college or university in a degree-seeking program during employment
  • No work experience required

Starting Salary

Minimum of $16.00 per hour
