Road Maintenance Operator

Road Maintenance Operator - Dexter Based Road Crew 

About the Position

To perform maintenance activities and operate equipment in the construction or maintenance of bridges and roadways, and related projects.

About the Division

The Road Maintenance Division is responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the County transportation system including some state highways and city streets under contract with Lane County. Although the majority of equipment and employees in Road Maintenance are based at the Delta Complex, satellite shops are located near Cottage Grove, Dexter, Veneta, and Florence. A crew and equipment are assigned to each Road Maintenance Zone. The Bridge Projects Crew, Sign Shop, and Vegetation Crew are headquartered at Delta and work throughout the County. 

Schedule: Monday - Thursday 6:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Shifts change per operational needs.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Training:

  • Formal or informal education or training which ensures the ability to read and write at a level necessary for successful job performance.

Experience:

  • Two years of experience in the operation of a variety of medium road maintenance and construction equipment, including experience performing semi-skilled and skilled tasks.
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training that will demonstrate the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying.

Licensing Requirements:

  • Possession of a valid Oregon Class A CDL, with required endorsements and medical card. A valid Oregon Class A CDL with a fifth wheel restriction is allowed for this classification.

Notes:

  • Employees in this classification are required to participate in an ongoing drug testing program, including, but not limited to, random testing according to requirements of the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA).
