Office Assistant 2

The Team Office Assistant role provides excellent customer service to our patients and will provide support the MLK-Primary Care Team with a variety of administrative tasks and duties. The Office Assistant team is an integral part of our organization and is the center of organizing and running the daily operations of our practice. This position may include Front desk services in a high volume and fast-paced primary care setting. Other duties may include:, working within our clinical care team to assist with administrative duties including faxing and answering phones. This position must demonstrate excellent customer service both in person and via phone for the Community Health Centers clientele. 

Assessing patient insurance status and checks them in for their appointment.

Scheduling patient appointments via the phone and in person

Liaison for the Community Health Centers and Lane County Behavioral Health polices and workflows.

Receives, transfers or refers calls to proper sources; provides complex or technical information, which requires the interpretation of office or program policies and procedures in order to facilitate office operations or assist the public; meets and greets the public and directs individuals to appropriate staff. Communicates to back office via in person, staff messaging and telephone encounters as appropriate, in the electronic medical record.

Prepping care team provider schedules by retrieving/requesting records, verifying patients’ health insurance, connecting patients to the appropriate resources for care.

Establish and maintain solid working relationships through communication, cooperation and positive interactions with all patients, employees, staff and providers.

About the Division

The Community Health Centers have been providing quality primary care and behavioral health services to the citizens of Lane County since 2004. Our clinics are Federally Qualified Centers whose mission is to serve the community by offering excellent care and eliminating barriers to healthcare.  Our staff must show dedication to providing care with compassion and willingness to work with a diverse population.

*This position may require the ability to float to our other clinics as needed to provide coverage and support.

Schedule: Monday – Friday; 8:00am – 5:00pm

*This is an AFSCME represented position*

QUALIFICATIONS:

Training:

  • Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade.

Experience:

  • Two years of responsible clerical and office assistance experience.
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training that will demonstrate the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying.
