The Real Public Defender Intern

The The Real Public Defender is recruiting an Associate Attorney. 

The Real Public Defender is a pro bono public interest law firm. We have advocacy goals to provide children and families access to justice.   

This position will be part of a national campaign which focuses on advocating for victims who have been denied representation and ultimately Justice in America 

RESPONSIBILITIES 

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the following: 

Preparing advocacy and public education materials; drafting toolkits and partner correspondence 

Creating and maintaining fundraising projects  

Conduct research and analysis

Prepare reports, memoranda and briefs 

Help develop and maintain internal databases 

Monitor political trends and issues to identify matters of public concern 

Manage calendars and set up meetings; take minutes during meetings 

Help manage information flow in a timely and accurate manner 

Commitment to work collaboratively and respectfully toward resolving obstacles and/or conflicts 

Other duties as assigned 

 

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS 

You do not have to take Uniform Bar Examination to apply for this internship. 

Excellent research, writing, analytical, and communication skills 

Ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced working environment 

Must be self-motivated, take initiative, and have excellent organizational and time management skills 

Strong interpersonal skills and attention to detail 

Ability to work independently as well as within a team 

Must be discrete with confidential information 

A commitment to civil liberties, civil rights, and social justice. 

Commitment to the mission of the TRPD.

 

POSITION OVERVIEW 

Location: This position is remote with appearances as needed in Court.

Time Commitment: This internship requires a part-time commitment of 20 hours per week or full-time commitment of 40 hours per week.
