FEDERAL PROGRAMS COORDINATOR - RSVP (1553)

Jefferson Parish is looking TO FILL ONE (1) CURRENT EAST JEFFERSON VACANCY IN THE DEPARTMENT OF JEFFERSON COMMUNITY ACTION PROGRAMS AND FOR FUTURE VACANCIES AS THEY OCCUR.

Kind of Work:

Under direction, the purpose of the position is to oversee and coordinate assigned Retired & Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) and federal services programs including AmeriCorps serving the needs of citizens through local community centers and faith-based organizations/programs or providing assistance to clients of other federal sponsored programs. This position also ensures work quality and adherence to established policies and procedures and performs the more technical and complex tasks relative to assigned area of responsibility. Employees in this classification perform professional and administrative work. Position is responsible for managing the daily operations of assigned program(s). Performs related work as required. Position requires driving of a personal vehicle, thus possession of a valid driver's license, acceptable driving record, and personal automobile with minimum liability insurance available for business use (business travel is reimbursed on a mileage basis) will be given preference.

Minimum Qualifications:

Meets ONE of the following four options:

I. Current employment with Jefferson Parish and permanent civil service status at or above the level of Federal Programs Coordinator, Assistant; plus, possession of a high school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of one (1) year of experience with J.P. in a position responsible for coordinating volunteers, providing community services through government-assisted programs, or providing clerical/administrative support to a grant-funded program.

OR

II. Possession of a high school diploma or equivalent; plus, a minimum of four (4) years of paid experience in: (i) a program/event coordinator role, or role serving as the primary contact for, planning events or overseeing volunteers or (ii) an administrative role supporting a government-funded or community/human services program.

OR

III. Possession of an accredited Associate’s degree; plus, a minimum of three (3) years of paid experience, as described in Option II.

OR

IV. Possession of an accredited Bachelor’s degree; plus, a minimum of one (1) year of paid experience, as described in Option II.

Related education, experience, and/or professional certification(s) above and beyond the minimum qualifications will be required for consideration of an entrance salary above the minimum rate.
