Marketing Assistant

GENERAL FUNCTIONS

Under the direction of the Member Services & Marketing Director, perform tasks related to marketing and fundraising for various departments. This position requires excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to perform work with limited supervision and high levels of accuracy.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Education, Training and Certifications:

  1. Associate or Bachelor Degree in marketing, public relations, communications, or related field.
  2. Preference given to individuals with knowledge of website and graphic design.
  3. Basic understanding of mass communication and marketing.
  4. Stevens Point Area YMCA required trainings.

Technical Knowledge, Skills and Experience: 

  1. Full operational understanding of Microsoft Office products. 
  2. Ability to use Adobe Acrobat and Adobe Creative Cloud preferred.
  3. Knowledge of Canva and Drupal helpful, but not required.
  4. Must possess solid knowledge of social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube).
  5. Ability to work independently and think creatively.
  6. Must have strong and proficient oral communication and writing skills.
  7. Maintain confidentiality requirements of the department.
  8. Ability to manage time, prioritize, and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 

Assist or perform marketing and fundraising tasks related to:

  1. Communication: mass email communications, direct mail marketing, push notifications and other ways to promote YMCA activities and events. Includes: writing news releases, design of posters, fliers, and bulletin boards.
  2. Special Events: Plan, coordinate, and implement successful special events in collaboration with leadership team, including but not limited to recognition event, annual campaign kickoff, golf outing, member events, fitness challenges and races.
  3. Advertising: Identify effective advertising media and work within budget to achieve goals. Create marketing plan by working with program directors to identify needs. Create videos and take photographs for use in advertising.
  4. Digital Media: Analyzing analytic data, create and manage website content, managing social media posts, and creating and managing Google Ad Grants.
  5. Graphic Design: Work effectively to create brand compliant materials and quality products. Have a solid knowledge of brand standards. 
  6. Fundraising: Assist as needed with grant writing, donor management, annual campaign, endowment development, and sponsor solicitation. Build successful relationships with, members, staff, program participants, and donors.
  7. Assist as needed, with other tasks as assigned by the Member Services & Marketing Director or CEO.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Must be able to effectively communicate and actively interact with employees. Must be able to lift and carry supplies up to 50 pounds. Must be able to operate office equipment.
