JOB ANNOUNCEMENT

The Utah County Public Works Department is a multi-service Department within County government operating in the areas of Administration, Buildings, Engineering, Mapping, Motor Pool, Parks, Roads, Special Projects, Surveying and Telecommunications.

POSITION: HVAC-R Mechanic II           POSTING #:  7004-0424ksa

 

The Opportunity:

Under general guidance and direction of the Maintenance Supervisor, performs advanced installations, repairs, and maintenance of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration (HVAC-R) systems in Utah County facilities, including boilers, chillers, and kitchen equipment.

 

Grade: 723

Starting Pay:  $27.97 - $32.14 per hour

Schedule: Standard Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., but may vary at times

 

Job Qualifications:

1. Associate degree or apprenticeship program in HVAC-R.

2. Three (3) years of work experience in HVAC-R trades.

3. Equivalent combinations of education and HVAC-R trade experience may also be considered.

 

Preferred Candidates will possess some of the below attributes:

1. Applicants must possess Universal EPA Refrigerant Certification (EPA 608) and Utah State Natural Gas Certification.

2. Selected applicants must obtain the following certification during the probationary period for new hires or trial period for promoted County employees and must maintain certifications during employment:

a. Forklift certification

b. CPR certification

c. Complete a defensive driving course

d. Confined Space Training

e. Trench Safety Course

f. Niagara and/or Delta Building Control Certificate

g. HVAC Water Treatment class with six (6) months supervised water treatment of County equipment at satisfactory standards County employees must possess the above certifications and licenses prior to moving into this classification through reassignment, transfer, or career ladder advancement.  Selected applicants may be required to obtain additional certifications, as directed.

3. Applicants must possess a valid driver’s license and obtain a valid State of Utah driver’s license within sixty (60) days of employment.

4. Selected applicants will be required to submit to a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
