Marketing & Promotions Intern

MARKETING & PROMOTIONS INTERN

 

SUMMARY 

The Boynton Beach Community Redevelopment Agency (BBCRA) is seeking a highly motivated and creative intern to join our Business Development, Marketing, and Promotions team. As an intern you will work closely with seasoned professionals and learn valuable skills as you engage in impactful projects around Boynton Beach, gaining a comprehensive perspective across our diverse team, and contributing to initiatives that positively impact our small business community. 

The BBCRA offers hands-on experience in a fun, exciting, and mission-driven work environment. This internship provides a unique opportunity for students or recent graduates to gain experience in the field of marketing and communications, social media content creation, planning, promotional activations, and business development. Time Commitment: 10-20 hours per week. 

Expected Start Date: As soon as possible 

Duration: 3-6 months, with possibility of extension

Hourly Compensation: $20 

 

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assists in creating engaging and high-quality content for social media platforms and newsletters, including creating graphics or videos, and/or images.
  • Collaborates with the marketing team to brainstorm innovative content ideas.
  • Supports marketing campaign planning and execution.
  • Collateral distribution to businesses and other locations in Boynton Beach. 
  • General office duties including but not limited to: Data entry, scanning, filing, and copying documents. 
  • Attends business promotional activations and assists with preparations, including: Placing signage, banners, chairs, lights, tables, etc.
  • Completes tasks associated with scheduling of volunteers i.e. process applications, distributes materials, and responds to inquiries. 
  • Use project management skills to assist the team with deadlines, meeting notes, and follow-up as needed.
  • Researches service, rental, and product providers for procurement or marketing needs.
  • Assists with updating spreadsheets and databases as needed. 
  • Assists Business Development, Marketing, and Promotions team with other tasks as requested. 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Must have interest in Event Planning, Business Development, or Marketing.
  • Commit to being part of an active team, helping wherever needed.
  • Proactive self-starter, with a positive attitude. 
  • Possess strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to effectively interact with a wide variety of individuals, including patrons, vendors, sponsors, and staff.
  • Be detail-oriented,  well organized, and have the ability to work both independently and with supervision.
  • Work effectively in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment with multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Ability to take direction, meet deadlines, and balance multiple tasks.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Actively enrolled or recent alumni from a fully accredited College or University.
  • Time Commitment: 10-20 hours per week
  • Must be available for additional hours on nights and weekends as needed. 
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Florida driver’s license.
  • Physical ability – Tasks require regular and, at times, sustained performance of physically demanding work, typically involving some combination of climbing and balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and that may involve the lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of moderately heavy objects and materials such as signs, tables, boxes, decorations, etc. that could weigh up to 50 pounds.

  • Gain Event Planning, Business Development, and Marketing. experience.
  • Strengthen understanding of successful marketing practices.
  • Develop critical-thinking skills by contributing original ideas in brainstorm and ideation sessions.
  • Hone your skills: Problem solving, time management, customer service, written and verbal communication, etc. 
  • Become familiar with government practices.
  • Apply your knowledge in the professional world.
  • Direct experience working in a fast-paced and fun agency environment.
