Environmental Resource Permit Student Interns (9002) (9022)

Here is your opportunity to gain real work experience assisting engineers in the Environmental Resource Permit (ERP) Evaluation Section by conducting investigations of water-resource related permitting and compliance activities. Duties include researching files of record, reviewing applications, generating correspondence, construction inspection site visits, verification of permit compliance, and other duties/functions as necessary. The District offers the Student Internship Program to provide students with real work experience and specific hands-on knowledge related to the chosen course of study.

Compensation:

High School Intern - $13.00 hourly

College Intern - $16.00 hourly

Essential Functions

  • Research files of record
  • Assist the evaluation and compliance engineers with monitoring the application and compliance tracking reports
  • Review application and post-permitting submittals for 62-330, Florida Administrative Code compliance
  • Generate correspondence associated with ERP evaluation and post-permitting compliance through the District's Water Management Information System
  • Make site visits to document status of compliance with Environmental Resource Permits

This position will require some field work (up to 8 hours per week). The remainder of time will be spent in the office assisting the evaluation and compliance engineers. Work environments vary by assigned business unit. 

Required Credentials for Environmental Resource Permit Student Intern

  • High School diploma or equivalent 
  • Be at least part-time and currently enrolled in an accredited college, university, or other recognized educational or vocational program
  • Maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5 for undergraduate students or minimum GPA of 3.0 for graduate students
  • Upload Unofficial Transcript to application or profile
  • Have the availability to work near the maximum allowable hours weekly
  • Valid driver’s license

Preferred Credentials for Environmental Resource Permit Student Intern

  • Preferred Degrees: Civil, Environmental, or Water Resources Engineering
  • Preferred Degree Level: Undergraduate

Additional Details

This position is typically scheduled to work no more than 25 hours per week, Monday to Friday, between the hours of 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM, out of the Tampa, FL office. Student Internship positions are not eligible for insured medical benefits.

Travel Required

Yes. Some travel, using District vehicle, within District's coverage area.
