Multimedia Specialist I (12-Week Part-Time Summer Internship)
This temporary part-time position performs complex (journey-level) multimedia operation and production work. This position will produce, direct, edit, and develop the production of live and recorded video programs to support the Texas Department of Insurance, Division of Workers’ Compensation’s internal and external education efforts. Works under general supervision, with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. This temporary position will end 12 weeks from the date of hire.
This position:
- Writes and composes video concepts, live and recorded webinars, scripts, and storyboards; identifies and clarifies communication concepts, scope, theme, audio, and visual elements.
- During studio and location production; performs duties of director, audio technician, videographer. Must be capable of using a switcher, sound board, and green screen.
- Coordinates and performs pre-production activities such as scheduling, location scouting, set and/or green screen design, graphics preparation, and rehearsals.
- Coordinates and performs technical setup of studio, including set design and construction, props and wardrobe, lighting, and electronics.
- Performs post-production activities, including editing, motion graphics, special effects, music selection, and media conversion. Prepares media for distribution to the web, radio, TV, social media, and more.
- Conducts live streaming of educational events and webinars using green screen.

This position requires:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- One year of experience in the creation of multimedia content.
- Portfolio required with application.

Additional job details:
This position requires regular work attendance. The position may be eligible for a hybrid work schedule. If eligible, the employee must have a secure, dedicated workspace with reliable broadband internet service. The ideal candidate must be available for weekly meetings and group collaboration via Microsoft Teams and other applications. This position must report in person on Tuesdays and Wednesdays for a minimum of four hours each day.
This position requires demonstrated knowledge of:
- Current principles and practices of video production technology and applications in an educational environment including motion graphics and capturing video on green screen.
- Understanding of materials, processes, equipment, methods, and techniques used in the development and production of video projects, live streaming, and webinars.
- Project planning principles.
This position requires demonstrated skill in:
- Problem solving and critical thinking.
- Using Microsoft Office software applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and SharePoint.
- Using personal computers sufficient to enter and extract data from related systems and programs such as Centralized Accounting Payroll and Personnel (CAPPS) and other systems required to perform the job.
- Proficiency using non-linear edit system (Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premier).
- Experience with Adobe After Effects CC and Adobe Photoshop.
- Proficiency in using digital video cameras of varying formats.
- Proficiency in using motion graphics software.
- Proficiency in using studio equipment, lighting, green screen, audio board, video switcher.
- Producing, directing, writing, shooting, and editing video productions.
- An enthusiastic team player with a strong drive to create a positive work environment.
- Effective written and verbal communications skills including tact and diplomacy while working with all levels of agency staff.
