Program Manager/Community Coordinator

Our non-profit organization is looking for prospective candidate who would like to become an Assistant to our Executive Team and work with people affected by disabilities (on-line Job application: https://www. karina-association.org/job-application).

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: The Program Manager is responsible for the overall operation of Community Development and Employment services. Primary duties include, but are not limited to: training, supervision, job coaching, evaluation and management of the Direct Support Professional staff. In addition, the Program Manager also assures proper implementation of Karina Association’s policies and procedures; supervises and assists in the coordination and implementation of Individual Program Plans which includes programs in activities of living skills, community integration, socialization, volunteering and job skills development. Provide a few hours per week direct support activities and supervision of the individuals supported to help them achieve their personal goals.

Hours per week are 40hrs/w, M-F, 8:30am--4:30pm.
Additional responsibilities are:
-- To be creative and apply your knowledge to help young people with disabilities to have a meaningful life!
-- To provide support to staff (DSPs) who serve these individuals learn, accommodate, and perform their Daily schedule in the community settings or work duties.

This position could be a good fit for a student who is majoring in Special Ed, Occupational Therapy, Nursing, Human Services and Counseling, Family Psychology.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Present self and organization in a positive and professional manner.
  • Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree
  • Supports and contributes to an overall environment of trust, sharing and growth through leadership and direction of the DSP’s.
  • Complete all paperwork thoroughly, correctly and on a timely basis.
  • Creates an environment in which best practices are promoted.
  • Perform all job duties with Karina’s mission, vision and values in mind.
  • Excellent Computer skills -- Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and Google Drive.
  • Able to exercise sound judgment in an emergency situation.
  • Able to effectively manage multiple tasks.
  • Ability to successfully complete mandatory training, in services.
  • Valid driver’s license and safe driving record required.
  • Pass a pre-employment background check.
  • 3 years of previous supervisory experience in a related field of work.
