Commercial Finance Analyst

The role of Finance Analyst is responsible for maintaining the client financial relationships of multiple clients and acts to support the finance leads for all financial deliverables to clients, including fee invoicing, reconciliations, and profitability analysis. The Analyst will work closely with the various Planning and service teams (especially Client Accounting) to ensure financial elements of the client relationship are accurately tracked, monitored, and communicated.

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

  • Track revenues vs. budget and research variance drivers 
  • Manage intercompany revenue cross charges 
  • Monitor projects for proper revenue recognition 
  • Assist in the budget & reforecast process
  • Provide support in the preparation of client pricing and staffing plans 
  • Prepare and provide reporting on staff utilization 
  • Supports the business in their development of short, medium, and long-term resourcing requirements
  • Monitor job activity, prepare, and assist with fee, media and production reconciliations and investigate discrepancies 
  • Occasionally support efforts to manage client collections and ensure invoices are paid in a timely manner 
  • Support the efforts to prepare and produce all client financial deliverables
  • Develop, maintain, and distribute ad-hoc reports and financial models as needed 
  • Assist Directors of Finance and corporate finance with special projects. 

This position is responsible for handling highly confidential information, requiring an ability to maintain and display high ethical standards including confidentiality, discretion, and exemplary judgment with respect to such information.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Finance/Accounting degree preferred
  • 1-2 years of finance or accounting experience 
  • High proficiency in Excel including pivot tables, lookups, sumifs, complex formulas, charts, etc.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Work well independently and as part of a team 
  • Tenacity to follow-through on open items to complete assignments and meet deadlines
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to interact within team and across functions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience in media or advertising industry a plus
