Financial Services Supervisor

About the Position

Lane County Administration-Operations/Financial Services is seeking a Financial Services Supervisor (Accounting Supervisor). If you are passionate about ensuring that all financial components of the organization are well-organized and executed timely, accurately, and efficiently while providing superior customer service, then you might be interested in Lane County's Financial Reporting Supervisor position. We are looking for a customer-service-driven individual to lead and inspire a centralized team of talented professionals in collaboration with accounting staff throughout the organization.

Under general direction of the Financial Services Manger, the position supervises and performs difficult professional-level accounting and financial record-keeping activities in compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and practices; assists with year-end audit processes and prepares work papers; manages special projects as required; actively supervises assigned professional and technical staff; and performs related work as required. This position may provide technical guidance to other finance department personnel or personnel from other county departments.

This position is responsible for the day-to-day management of general accounting functions (payroll, tax distributions, and cash & investment management) and sets goals to keep the team engaged, doing the work of ensuring that the laws, rules, and policies are correctly and consistently applied. The Financial Services Supervisor will provide accurate, efficient, and effective processing of the County’s tax distributions, payroll, journal entries, and related accounting activities. The successful candidate will have great analytical skills and a commitment to meeting timelines while also being detail oriented and producing accurate work.

About the Division

As part of the County Administration Department, the 15 FTE in the Financial Services Division perform functions related to accounting, financial reporting, investment of funds, cash management, debt management, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll administration and procurement. Financial Services is responsible for maintaining and reporting all financial transactions on an accurate and timely basis and preparing financial statements in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles including the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR). Financial Services maintains effective accounting systems to control and report the receipt and disbursement of County and taxing districts funds and is responsible for receiving and recording all County expenditures and revenue obligations. 

Schedule: Monday – Friday; 8:00am – 5:00pm

QUALIFICATIONS:

Training:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field
  • Some positions may require a Master's Degree or Medical Doctorate specific to area assigned

Experience:

  • Four years of professional experience directly related to area assigned, including lead or supervisory experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
