Intern, Content Marketing

An internship with the National Multiple Sclerosis Society is a form of experiential learning that integrates knowledge and theory learned in the classroom with practical application and skills development in a professional setting.   

You’ll create integrated, purpose-driven content to help advance the mission of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.  Your content — such as digital articles, infographics, videos, emails, web pages, strategic content and more — will inspire action and play a key role in driving event registration, raising funds for MS research, engaging donors and empowering people with MS to live their best lives. 

You’ll be a key member of the Society’s Strategic Content Team and will play a key role in advancing our Digital Future Project by creating personalized content. You’ll have the opportunity to learn more about the Society’s flagship quarterly magazine, Momentum, and play a role in its digital transformation.   

This is a remote paid internship available for Summer 2024.

What You Will Do

Day To Day 

  • You will have the opportunity to create content for a variety of distribution channels to support the Society's integrated content program, in alignment with the Society’s brand, language and style guidelines. This can include short form web content, digital articles, print magazine articles, infographics, email newsletters and videos. (70%) 
  • Assist with project management for content creation. This may include tasks such as sourcing images or adding updates to our project management system and content repository. (15%) 
  • Learn more about editorial content planning and strategy by joining key team meetings and shadowing content team members. (15%) 

Learning Objectives 

You will learn what makes compelling content, how to execute a content strategy and how to work with constituents, team members and other functions to source content. You will hone your writing and design skills, receiving training and feedback from industry leaders with decades of experience.  

What You Will Bring:

  • Currently pursuing a degree as a Junior or Senior in College or any year in graduate school
  • Open to all majors with a preference for the following: Journalism, Marketing, Public Relations
  • Proficiency in AP Style
  • Graphic design experience is a plus
  • Spanish fluency is a plus
  • Ability to work 12 weeks, 15 hours/week.
  • Access to reliable internet (required for remote or hybrid positions)
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software for e-mail, document, and spreadsheet creation/management – specific training will be provided.

The hourly rate for internships is $15, except when noted differently above OR where local minimum wage exceeds that figure, in which case the hourly rate will be the higher of the two. If you are unable to be paid for this internship due to outside funding or other directives from your educational institution – please let your hiring manager know AFTER you have been identified as the final candidate.
