Fundraising Intern

Job Summary:  The Intern will support the daily operations of fundraising activities and assist in related  marketing and communications initiatives. They will design and execute a unique fundraising event of their volition. The intern will gain valuable experience in nonprofit communications and project management, working on a variety of projects related to fundraising, marketing, communicating, and community engagement. 

 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Conduct research on potential donors and foundations (individual, corporate, and institutional)
  • Assist with the planning and execution of fundraising events (online campaigns, in person events, etc)
  • Draft communication materials such as thank-you letters and email appeals
  • Assist with grant writing and research
  • Support with social media marketing for fundraising campaigns
  • May attend fundraising events and meetings as needed

 

Requirements: 

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program in a relevant field 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Desire to develop new skills 
  • Detail-oriented and organized
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite
  • Experience with social media and/or website content management preferred
  • Committed to the mission and values of our school

 

Reports to: Director 

Position Type: Part-time, unpaid  

Commitment: Approximately 5-7 hours weekly, flexible work hours  

Location: 100% Remote  

Internship Term: Applications are open for the 2024-2025 school year. 

 

Our internship program consists of the following components

  • Clear objectives that are aligned with our school's goals and the interns learning goals will be created and clearly communicated 
  • Structured learning experience: Interns will have a learning experience that is carefully planned and shared. Our interns will also receive the necessary tools or be directed to find the tools, receive training, and specific tasks to achieve the objectives. 
  • Mentoring and support: Interns will receive the guidance, mentoring, and support necessary to succeed, including regular check-ins with the school leader(s). 
  • Access to Resources: We will provide our interns with access to the resources that they need to accomplish their tasks effectively. 
  • Evaluation and Feedback: Interns will be involved in our two-way feedback system, where both the intern and school leader will provide an evaluation and feedback to each other. 
  • Encouraging Student Interaction & Professional Networking: We will encourage interns to work with students, families, and other professionals within and outside the organization. 
  • Opportunities For Growth: Our interns will be provided with opportunities to grow beyond the constraints of their specific internship tasks. They will have the opportunity to explore and support other areas in our organization.
