WLEX, the NBC affiliate owned by The E.W. Scripps Company in Lexington, KY is looking for a talented and enterprising Anchor / Multimedia Journalist. The Anchor / MMJ will research, pitch, and fully cover stories that make a difference in the region. The right candidate will strive to break stories and lead the market. WHAT YOU'LL DO:

Gather unbiased content affecting the community.

Write story content, edit and review video, and prepare story items for presentation across multiple platforms.

Work with newsroom employees and personal sources to develop engaging, accurate, and ethical newscasts.

Deliver news in a smooth, conversational, approachable, yet authoritative tone.

Anchor multiple reports from breaking news to investigative reporting.

Organize and set up interviews and video shoots.

Take part in station and independent community service events and activities.

Follow the Scripps Journalism Ethics Guidelines.

Engage viewers via social media on a daily basis.

Perform other duties as assigned.

 

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

Bachelor’s degree in related discipline is preferred or equivalent years of experience

Generally, 3+ years anchor/reporting experience in related field preferred

 

WHAT YOU'LL BRING:

Strong broadcast and digital writing skills

Ability to communicate effectively

Basic computer skills required

Strong organizational skills

Knowledge of local, regional, and national news

Work well under pressure and at a fast pace

Working knowledge of all social media platforms

Flexible work hours may be required

Ability to lift and carry at least 50-pounds
