THE PROJECT
Syracuse Athletics and Legends announced a 10-year partnership in November 2021 that integrates data and analytics, marketing, ‘Cuse Athletics Fund annual giving, premium seating, and general ticket sales initiatives into a single revenue-driven approach. Legends’ unique fundraising platform, an essential service embraced by higher education, identifies effective fan and donor engagement strategies to amplify philanthropic giving and other opportunities. The partnership will also ensure that the Orange build upon their legacy of supporting student-athletes in the classroom and on the playing fields.

Currently, Syracuse Athletics is embarking on the JMA Dome Transformation Project. Home to not one, but five Syracuse Athletics programs, the JMA Dome is the center of the Syracuse spots experience and the premier entertainment venue in central New York. Legends plays an integral role in this project, managing and executing the communications and sales strategy as we introduce new premium offerings throughout the venue to create a first-rate experience for donors and fans. Legends also partners with Syracuse University’s Falk College of Sport & Human Dynamics to provide education, mentorship, and career opportunities to students.

THE ROLE
As a member of the Syracuse Athletics team, the Sr Manager, Marketing is primarily responsible for driving revenue through the sale of tickets, donations, VIP experiences and premium hospitality packages for football, men’s and women’s basketball, men’s and women’s lacrosse, and the ‘Cuse Athletics Fund. We are seeking an experienced team member with a positive, results-oriented approach who can communicate clearly across all platforms and work diligently to create, initiate, manage and direct marketing strategies to promote sales, create awareness, generate interest, maximize attendance, generate revenue, and enhance the overall fan experience. The Sr Manager, Marketing will work under the guidance of the General Manager, and Syracuse Athletic leadership.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Collaborate with department leadership to establish annual campaign goals.
  • End-to-end management of simultaneous, highly-targeted, digital marketing campaigns.
  • In conjunction with internal and external teams, create, initiate, manage and measure marketing campaigns to meet the financial goals of the athletic department.
  • Responsible for constructing, implementing and executing strategic content, marketing, and data campaigns designed to drive revenue centered on the sale of tickets, donations, VIP experiences and premium hospitality packages.
  • Construct campaigns for the purposes of customer acquisition, expansion and retention. The campaigns will leverage digital and direct marketing assets including but not limited to email, mass texting, social media, events, paid search, display ads, retargeting and direct mail.
  • In concert with the data and sales teams, identify target audience segments for specific campaign, while developing personalized messaging that resonates with each persona.
  • Plan, develop, and implement comprehensive paid media strategies to convert audience to directly purchase and/or to drive new leads through Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, Google search, programmatic display ads, radio, billboard, print and more.
  • Consistently monitor and optimize paid marketing efforts to maximize ROI and identify gaps in current strategies.
  • Analyze campaigns to determine and evaluate key measurables including Cost Associated per Lead, Online Marketing ROI (return on investment), Customer Conversion Rates, ROAS (return on ad spend) and other KPI’s (key performance indicators) to help shape future marketing strategies and elevate best practies to clients.
  • Ideate and implement new promotions and campaigns to develop brand awareness, grow the audience, increase engagement, and drive revenue.
  • Must illustrate strong interpersonal skills to gain consensus for planned campaigns, negotiate tight deadlines and unite teams with a single campaign vision and voice. Experience in building and integrating marketing teams and programs is a must.  Strong digital marketing experience is required.  This talented, creative and driven marketer is able to easily manage multiple campaigns at once, adhering to deadlines and meeting and exceeding all campaign goals.
  • Work closely with internal marketing team members, as well as our partners at Syracuse, to strategize, maintain, and execute marketing and content strategies 90+ days in advance.
  • Understand our audience, our competition and build content that drives customer engagement and traffic.
  • Responsible for the leadership, training, coaching, performance and evaluation of the marketing staff.

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, the candidate must be able to perform each essential duty above at the highest levels. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
  • 5+ years in marketing and marketing related field at a digital marketing agency or a brand heavily engaged in digital conversion.
  • Experience overseeing a team of marketers is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to prioritize and meet competing deadlines independently.
  • Ability to manage multiple task simultaneously, while remaining organized, efficient and calm under pressure.
  • Proven experience planning and implementing strategic and targeted marketing campaigns is required.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Possesses effective project management skills.
  • Professional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Candidate must have a strong work ethic.
  • Experience using email platforms like TM1 and Eloqoa is preferred.

COMPENSATION
Competitive salary ($70,000 - $75,000) and a generous benefits package that includes: medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance, paid vacation, and 401k plan.
