Digital Marketing Intern (Summer 2024)

PURPOSE: The Digital Marketing Intern at People's Community Clinic will play a pivotal role in supporting the  communication and marketing efforts of the clinic. This internship offers an opportunity to gain practical experience in social marketing within the unique context of a healthcare nonprofit, under the guidance of the Chief Development Officer.

 

OBJECTIVE: The objective of this internship is to provide the intern with hands-on experience in creating impactful digital marketing campaigns that resonate with the clinic's mission of providing quality healthcare to the community. The intern will work collaboratively with the Chief Development Officer and the communications team to contribute to projects aimed at enhancing the clinic's visual identity and outreach initiatives.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:  Under the supervision of the Chief Development Officer, this individual's primary responsibilities include:

  • Collaborate with the development team to craft compelling posts and videos for digital platforms, including social media, the clinic's website, and email campaigns.
  • Support the design and editing of marketing materials, presentations, and other visual content that aligns with the clinic's branding guidelines.
  • Participate in brainstorming sessions to contribute creative design concepts for upcoming campaigns, projects, and fundraising events.
  • Utilize graphic design software, such as Adobe Creative Suite, to produce high-quality visual content that effectively communicates the clinic's values and messages.
  • Incorporate feedback from the Chief Development Officer and the development team to refine and iterate on designs.
  • Stay informed about design trends, particularly in the healthcare and nonprofit sectors, to ensure the clinic's marketing efforts are contemporary and impactful.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Education:  Currently enrolled in or a recent graduate of a relevant degree program in Graphic Design, Visual Arts, Digital Media, or a related field.

 

Experience: Some prior experience in graphic design, whether through coursework, personal projects, or previous internships.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Proficiency in graphic design software, including Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign).
  • Basic understanding of design fundamentals, typography, and layout.
  • Strong creative thinking and an eye for detail in visual composition.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate within a team environment.

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Portfolio showcasing relevant digital and graphic design work.
  • Experience designing materials for social media platforms and healthcare-related campaigns.
  • Familiarity with user interface (UI) and user experience (UX) design principles.
  • Basic knowledge of HTML and CSS for web design enhancements.

 

Duration and Compensation: This internship is expected to last [duration], with [part-time/full-time] hours per week. While this is an unpaid/paid internship, it offers valuable hands-on experience, networking opportunities, and the chance to make a meaningful impact on the community.

Physical Requirements:

  • Hearing: Adequate to perform job duties in person and over the telephone.
  • Speaking: Must be able to communicate clearly to patients in person and over the telephone.
  • Vision: Visual acuity adequate to perform job duties, including reading information from printed sources and computer screens.
  • Other: Requires occasional lifting and carrying items weighing up to 20 pounds unassisted.   Requires frequent bending, reaching, and repetitive hand movements, standing, walking, squatting and sitting, with some lifting, pushing and pulling exerted throughout the regular work day.
