Communications and Marketing Associate

Frankel Jewish Academy (FJA) is looking for a Communications and Marketing Associate. This person will build relationships and tell our stories through social media, print and digital communications. We are seeking a candidate who can grow in the job to conceive and execute creative marketing campaigns and engage our community of students, parents, alumni, donors and the broader Detroit Jewish community. This is a full-time, 12-month position.

 

Annual salary is $35,000 - $45,000 depending on experience.


Communications and Marketing Responsibilities
● Create compelling and exciting social media content that connects with people and inspires them to engage.
● Design eye-catching graphics and video.
● Be a natural storyteller who knows what to say, how to write eloquently, and when to use print or digital formats to get the message across.
● Understand core social media channels and their nuanced differences, as well as paid
advertising through social media.
● Develop marketing plans and execute them on a daily basis.
● Speak and communicate effectively with a diversity of people with poise and clarity.
Publications and Marketing
● Collaborate in the production of all publications, marketing materials, and digital advertising campaigns including writing, editing, design, photography, and print management of the following:
a. Publications (semi-annual Meh Chadash; weekly Sof Shavua; calendar, annual report).
b. Fund-raising and donor recognition pieces.
c. General campus communications.
● Serve as a webmaster for the School’s web site, overseeing all architecture, design, and content; reviews or writes content (aside from routine updates and classroom pages) to ensure consistency with other School communications.
● Represent the school at various gatherings and conferences including events on student
recruitment and marketing.
Benchmarking, Research and Assessment
● Track and analyze effectiveness of social media platforms and advertising.
● Track and analyze effectiveness of marketing initiatives and activities.
● Present statistics and analysis to administration.
Qualifications
● Bachelor's degree.
● 2+ years of professional work experience.

● Experience and proven results developing and implementing social content beyond your
personal use.
● Strong graphic design skills for digital and print graphics using Adobe products, such as Creative Cloud.
● Experience as a writer and editor who is comfortable writing both short-form social captions and longer articles and formal writing.
● Strong project management skills with ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects
simultaneously under tight deadlines.
● Ability to take portrait and candid photographs.
● Ability to film video and make edits.
● A team-oriented approach to work, a strong work ethic, feel at ease managing a project, a sense of humor, an ability to take risks and learn from challenges.
● Experience with Apple products including MacOS and iOS.
● Experience with Canva or ability to learn / teach the program.

As Communications Associate, a typical day may include:
● Drafting and customizing content to post on Facebook, Instagram and/or Twitter.
● Designing graphics and putting out FJA’s weekly email “Sof Shavua.”
● Planning a print and online Ad campaign in coordination with the Director of Admissions.
● Engaging with FJA’s faculty and staff to learn about the exciting things that we can share with the world.
● Building and editing pages for the school’s website.
● Meeting with other members of the Advancement team to plan upcoming fundraising
campaigns.
General Requirements
● A criminal history background check is required of all employees.
