Digital Media Director

Job Overview

This person is responsible for development of a digital department and the overall management and quality control of all the West Palm Beach market digital efforts. This includes, but is not limited to: station web sites, mobile web sites, mobile apps, texting, podcasting, streaming, web site content, email blasts, social media strategies, video production and video strategies, digital client initiatives, and digital sales initiatives.

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Establish department protocols, procedures and avenues of communication to help create an environment of consistent, quality workflow.
  • Work with programming, promotions and sales department heads as well as Corporate Digital Director and Market Manager to accomplish successful digital initiatives that achieve branding, promotional or revenue goals.
  • Leads, directs, and participates in efforts to constantly improve quality of station and market web sites, mobile sites, mobile apps and other digital initiatives as required.
  • Under the supervision of the Operations Manager, work with Brand & Content Director and Promotion/Marketing Directors to build successful social media strategies for each station.
  • Consistently stay up to date and educated in the fast changing areas of web development, design, social media and content curation.
  • Works with Sales Managers and Account Managers on creating digital solutions for clients that meet client/manager expectations and deadlines. Work with Digital Sales Manager in developing brand aligned for development and production of video in the social media space and as needed for client solutions.  Attends sales meetings as required.
  • Provide creative direction and leadership on digital initiatives such as each stations web site, market website, app(s), mobile site(s), social media presence(s), etc.
  • Understands and can articulate each stations’ programming directions and philosophies.
  • Manage department annual spending budget. Help provide creative solutions and quality execution to sales to help meet earnings goals.
  • Builds working relationships with co-workers, customers, vendors and the general public. Acts in a professional manner when representing each station.
  • Reports to work on time and works established schedule/hours. Ability to work other hours or alternate schedules as needed, as assigned by the Market Managers or required to complete a project or task.
  • Ability to work established schedule and other hours as needed.
  • Other duties as needed.

 

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 yrs experience in developing digital strategies and digital management required.
  • Considerable knowledge and experience in strategies that increase digital and social statistics as well as for increased revenue.
  • Strong video production capabilities, design background, strong attention to detail, interpersonal and communication skills required.
  • Experience working as a team member with the ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with a variety of individuals.
  • Previous management experience required.
  • Takes initiative but will follow direction when needed.
  • Ability to work on short deadlines and in pressure situations.

Physical Requirements

Ability to communicate in English both verbally and in writing. Manual dexterity and fine motor skills to manipulate computer keys and general office equipment (computer, telephone, copier, etc.) for extended periods of time. Sits, stands and walks on a regular basis. Ability to hear and speak clearly and follow both oral and written direction. Requires the ability to think creatively, critically, analyze data, notice trends, and articulate information in clear, concise manner to others.
