    Position Title: Non Profit Development and Fundraising Intern

    Position Type: Part Time (20 hours or less)

    Location: Remote 

    Compensation: $1,000 stipend per semester, paid in two $500 payments

The Global Liver Institute (GLI) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization headquartered in Washington, D.C. Our mission is to improve the lives of individuals and families impacted by liver disease by promoting innovation, encouraging collaboration, and scaling optimal approaches to help eradicate liver diseases. We believe that by collaborating with patients, the medical community, other advocacy organizations, and our corporate partners, we will achieve our vision for liver health to take its proper place on the global public health agenda consistent with its prevalence and impact. In just seven years, GLI has grown from a social impact start-up to an international nonprofit with an expanding list of programs and initiatives serving patients and the liver health community. 

Position Summary:

The Development Intern will play a crucial role in supporting Global Liver Institute's fundraising efforts and outreach initiatives. The intern will work closely with the development team to identify, track, and pursue new fundraising opportunities. Additionally, they will engage in outreach activities to strengthen GLI's network and promote awareness of our mission. The Development and Outreach Intern will report directly to the Director of Strategic Partnerships. 

Responsibilities:

Research and Identify Funding Opportunities:

  • Conduct research to identify potential donors, sponsors, and grant opportunities.
  • Assist in maintaining a comprehensive database of funding sources and opportunities.
  • Stay informed about trends in philanthropy and potential funding avenues.

Fundraising Support:

  • Collaborate with the development team to prepare proposals, presentations, and fundraising materials.
  • Help track and report on fundraising progress and outcomes.

Outreach and Networking:

  • Assist with outreach to individuals, organizations, and businesses to expand GLI's network.
  • Support the development of outreach strategies to engage new stakeholders.

Administrative Support:

  • Provide general administrative support to the development team.
  • Assist in maintaining accurate records of donations, communications, and contacts.
  • Aid in the creation of reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.

Candidate Specification:

  • Fluency in Microsoft and Google Workspace Applications
  • Undergraduate or graduate student pursuing a degree in business, nonprofit management, communications, or a related field.
  • Basic understanding of business concepts and fundraising principles.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and research abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote or office environment.
