Senior Human Resources Generalist

Position Summary    

This position’s primary responsibility is to provide support and guidance in the functional areas of Human Resources including, but not limited to: employment, ADA, retention, employee relations, organization development, training, diversity and inclusion initiatives.  


Essential Duties

  1. Serves as a trusted partner for assigned client groups.  Provides a consultative approach to all types of Human Resources and employment matters. 
  2. Advises and assists leadership and staff with interpretation and application of personnel policies, procedures and legal compliance.  Protects the interests of employees and the institution in accordance with institution Human Resources policies and governmental laws and regulations.  
  3. Provides guidance and coaching to managers of all levels and staff in addressing performance issues and preparing clear and effective documentation, performance improvement and progressive discipline. 
  4. Assists with grievances, investigations and disciplinary problems as needed for management and staff. Assits with responses to EEOC / Civil Rights charges and assists with legal proceedings around Employment law.  
  5. Coordinates involuntary termination procedures between Human Resources, Payroll and management.
  6. Maintains a tracking system for coaching conversations, progressive discipline, performance improvement plans, involuntary terminations and EEOC / Civil Rights / Legal action.
  7. Responds to unemployment claims and coordinates hearings when necessary.
  8. Support with affirmative action program, files required reporting to regulatory agencies and Human Resources leadership, and maintains other required records.
  9. Develops with in-house employee training systems that address institutional training needs including training needs assessment, new employee orientation or onboarding, management development, production cross-training, the measurement of training impact, and the transfer of learning. 
  10. Coordinate the ADAAA Interactive process with staff while ensuring compliance and creation of appropriate reasonable accommodations.
  11. Assists with compliance to federal, state and local employment regulations/guidelines by attending Employment Law seminars and training throughout the year.  Interprets all pay policies and monitors compliance with wage and hour laws, FLSA standards, and EEO regulations.  Maintains a current knowledge of legal issues which impact HR administration. Stays current with respect to both internal and external factors

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Education: Bachelor degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field required.
  2. Work Experience: A minimum of three (3) years related Human Resources experience.
  3. Special Training, Certification or Licensure: PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP and/or SHRM-SCP preferred


Salary Range: $70,000 - $87,000
