Media Studios Intern

Business Insider is hiring a Media Studios Intern to join our Technology team to assist the Media Studios Team with various tasks including equipment management, production assistance work, and more.

This is a 6 month full time internship position working 40 hours a week.

The Role & Team:

As a Media Studios Intern, you will be an integral part of our organization in providing production equipment to our journalists in a time sensitive manner. You are required to update and reconcile equipment booking and distribution. You will also assist studio production staff members in camera and audio operations, floor directing, lighting and set creation.

The Business Insider Media Studios Internship Program is for early-career studio production applicants who want to spend time learning from a passionate and dedicated technical production staff. Interns will assist in daily production and will be supervised by staff employees at all times. 

This role reports directly to the Media Studios Manager and sits on the Media Studio desk, next to our production area. This role will be in office located in NYC.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Update and reconcile equipment bookings.
  • Identify production equipment that need repair.
  • Assist studio production staff members in various live or recording productions.
  • Assist in media duplication and transfers.
  • Be the eyes and ears for the production team during live production.

The ideal candidate has:

  • Demonstrable knowledge of studio production.
  • Previous experience with robotic cameras, audio boards, and lighting concepts.
  • Attention to details; punctuality is a must and an enthusiasm to various production techniques.
  • Basic knowledge of Adobe premiere, Photoshop and Audition.
  • Broad understanding on equipment such as TV switchers, audio boards, and various production equipment such as studio cameras and lights.
  • Broad understanding of video editing concepts such Adobe Premiere along with various types of audio and digital video equipment.
  • A strong visual sense and can help shoot a variety of subjects including Science, Business, Technology, Food, Beauty, and more.
  • Thrives in a fast-paced production environment and can multitask.
  • Great interpersonal skills and can work well with others.
  • Special interest in video equipment and how it all works.
  • Currently working toward a BA/BS in television production.

Salary & Benefits:

  • $18 per hour (overtime when needed and approved).
  • PTO and paid holidays.
  • Eligible for medical, dental, and vision benefits on 91st day of employment.
