Learning Resource Center Teacher - K-8

START DATE: August 19, 2024, for Orientation
WORK DAYS: 190 
PAY: for the 2024-25 school year, $45,171.49 - $88,774.53 depending on experience and education level, plus we pay your PERS contribution; in addition, Special Education teachers receive a $3,000 annual stipend

Sublimity School is excited to welcome a new LRC teacher to our team beginning the 2024-2025 school year! Our mission is to help students reach their full potential and become productive citizens. We seek a full-time teacher to join our collaborative and diverse team. Our ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, positive, and passionate about their field. This position will be a case manager for our K-8 building and will provide specialized instruction based on IEP goals and services.

About Us
Sublimity Elementary is a unique K-8 school located approximately 20 minutes east of Salem, Oregon. While our students often perform well on standardized tests and other academic measurements, our primary goal is to help them perform well in life. We are fortunate to have the support of a very involved community, which is often reflected by our PTC's involvement and financial support. Our staff believes in setting high expectations for students, taking time to create intentional relationships within our community, and mentoring each other. We offer peer leadership opportunities, parent/family support, involvement, and experienced administration. Essential Requirements:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to execute each requirement satisfactorily.  The requirements below represent the knowledge, skill, and ability needed for the position.

  • Minimum Bachelor's Degree and current valid Oregon Teaching License and SPED endorsement
  • Ability to demonstrate subject matter knowledge, seek professional growth, improve classroom instruction, and qualify for license renewal by following state and district regulations
  • Ability to maintain strength of knowledge and practice in instructional skills and strategies
  • Ability to demonstrate standards of moral character and behavior and to serve as an effective role model for students
  • Ability to work harmoniously with others and to communicate effectively (both orally and in writing) with students, parents, teachers, and community
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality when dealing with student, staff, and parent information
  • Ability to communicate with individuals of varied cultural and educational backgrounds
  • Ability to work effectively in an environment that can be both physically and emotionally fatiguing
  • Perform physical requirements related to classroom teaching and supervision
  • Such alternative to the above requirements as the School Board or the Administration may deem appropriate and acceptable

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (other duties may also be assigned):

  1. Demonstrate knowledge of Special Education services, including the ability to write IEPs and provide specially designed instruction
  2. Provide training to education staff related to SPED services
  3. Collaborate with and lead a Student Intervention Team to identify struggling students and plan appropriate interventions
  4. Plan and implement effective instruction in reading, writing, and mathematics that reasonably meets students' individual needs and development
  5. Demonstrate knowledge of learning modalities and self-concept factors that affect student learning
  6. Guide the learning process toward achieving curriculum goals; establish clear objectives for all instructional units, projects, and lessons to communicate these goals and objectives to students
  7. Assist the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student conduct and, for the classroom, develop reasonable classroom behavior and attendance rules
  8. Develop and maintain a classroom environment conducive to learning with the resources provided by the district
  9. Establish and clarify acceptable standards for student behavior and demonstrate effective classroom management skills
  10. Establish and maintain open lines of communication with parents concerning students' academic and behavioral progress
  11. Assess students' accomplishments regularly and maintain such records as required by law, district policy, and grant compliance
  12. Assist the administration in implementing district policies and rules, grant requirements, and school improvement efforts
  13. Satisfactorily perform teaching responsibilities and continually evaluate and reappraise professional performance using district guidelines
  14. Assume the responsibility for seeking help and advice and take full responsibility for demonstrating professional growth and needed improvement
  15. Serve as a role model to students in appearance, actions, behaviors, and interpersonal interactions with peers
  16. Take reasonable precautions to protect students' health and safety and protect equipment, materials, and facilities
  17. Maintain accurate, complete, and confidential records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations
  18. Cooperate with other staff members in planning district curriculum and instructional methods, goals, and objectives
  19. Direct and assign activities of assigned instructional assistants, volunteers, and other para-professionals
  20. Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues
  21. Attend meetings and serve on committees as directed
  22. Maintain a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students, parents, and staff
  23. Act as a friendly ambassador of the North Santiam School District
  24. Perform other tasks (which may require knowledge of different job descriptions) that may seem appropriate to the Board or Administration

North Santiam is a PBIS District - Positive Behavior Interventions & Supports (PBIS) focuses on creating an educational environment that supports student learning and growth. PBIS schools use classroom and school-wide strategies to promote and teach expected behavior, provide positive reinforcement, and use data-based information to guide intervention and management.
