Epidemiologist Intermediate

Play a meaningful role in the health of Minnesotans by supporting the work of the Center for Health Promotion (CHP) section of the Health Promotion and Chronic Disease (HPCD) Division.  CHP partners with local community organizations, health systems, local and tribal public health, and other partners to tell the population health level story of chronic disease burden and identify opportunities to address disparities in health outcomes for Minnesotans. We are looking for an individual with a passion for public health with the experience necessary to aggregate, compile, analyze, interpret, report and evaluate the sources and content of health surveillance data.  This position will support Oral Health and Asthma Programs within CHP.

Responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:

  • Establishing new systems for systematic and ongoing collection, interpretation, analyses, and reporting of data.
  • Interpreting, analyzing, and reporting on the data from an equity, social determinants of health, and chronic disease perspective.
  • Communicating with community partners, the medical community and the public on disease prevention, implementing disease control measures and assisting with the development of policies and procedures for efforts to reduce the prevalence and impact of chronic disease.
  • Contributing to grant writing, and to the applied research effort in an ongoing effort to determine policies and programs that are effective at the community level.

Minimum Qualifications

Three (3) years of related experience designing and conducting epidemiologic investigations and/or surveillance.  Experience to indicate:

  • Completing needs assessments
  • Data projects using statistical software such as SAS or R.
