Site Leader, Nationals Baseball Summer Camps

Washington Nationals Baseball Summer Camp is five days of baseball and softball instruction and competition within our custom-built curriculum for all children ages 5-13. We are looking for a Site Leader, as head of our on-site leadership team, to be directly responsible for top-notch implementation of the day-to-day operations of camp, manage a team of 10+ coordinators and coaches, and inspire hundreds of Nationals' campers to unlock their personal best each and every day. We provide the training, baseball and softball curriculum & daily camp schedules along with all equipment for a successful camp but need you to bring camp to life with your enthusiasm, leadership and dedication.

 

What You'll Do:

  • Manage camp for campers & staff, working to ensure smooth day to day operations, spearhead problem solving and act as liaison between Headquarters and site, when needed.
  • Create a culture of excitement, teamwork, inclusion, positivity, respect, and professionalism for everyone who encounters your site, including facility partners, families, and teammates by communicating with a variety of ages, interests, and skill levels as well as have an enthusiasm for baseball and softball and positively representing the Nationals brand.
  • Study, prepare for, help implement and be the onsite expert for our baseball curriculum and all safety and operational processes and procedures, driving high program quality and presentation.
  • Prioritize physical, social & emotional safety for everyone on site by being a role model and working directly with camp staff to support campers in their emotional, physical, and social development through forming close connections to campers and providing support when needed.
  • Work alongside the rest of the leadership team to ensure clean and organized camp set up, representing the Nationals brand in a positive and professional light.
  • Support the Communications & Customer Experience Coordinator in proactive and reactive family communications, ensuring all customers are informed on their camper’s day and camp experience.
  • Oversee the seamless transition to after camp extended day programming and Hitting and Fielding Lesson implementation.
  • Be a loyal and dedicated member of the team member who consistently shows up on time and in all ways for the campers and your team.
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned by Headquarters.

About You:

  • Possess Bachelor’s degree, youth education or sports management preferred, or equivalent experience in the field.
  • Baseball and softball expert who deeply understands and loves the game, is knowledgeable of the rules and fundamentals, and is passionate about coaching youth. 3+ years playing at a competitive level viewed favorably.
  • Experience in coaching and working with children or other camp experience (3 years preferred)
  • Experience managing a team of direct reports and comfort with public speaking (to parents, staff, and groups of campers).
  • Passionate about baseball and softball and making a positive impact in the lives of children, families, and coaches
  • Committed to the camp mission, top-notch program quality, the rest of your team, and our campers and their families for the full duration of the summer camp season.
  • CPR/First Aid Certified, or able to obtain CPR/First Aid Certification before the first day work.
  • Able to receive orders for stock replenishment at a personal address and willingness to transport these packages to the camp site.
  • Able to remain upright and standing for multiple hours at a time, to walk and/or run quickly around large outdoor grass and dirt-covered fields, and ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. of sports equipment.
  • Committed to adhering to the Nationals Summer Camp Cell-Phone Free policy, powering down, and putting away cell phones in a Yondr pouch for the duration of your shift.

Additional Camp Information:

  • Time Commitment: Available for pre-camp trainings and all weeks of programming.
  • Camp Dates & Locations: June 17th – August 16th.

  • Schedule: Monday-Friday 7:15 am-4:00 pm.
  • Compensation: $22 / hour with up to 3.75 hours of overtime expected per week paid at $33/hour.
