Marketing & Communications Specialist Part-Time Position

Description:

The International Headquarters of Tau Beta Pi Association, the Engineering Honor Society, is looking for a focused, hardworking, detail-oriented team member skilled in one or more of the following: writing, journalism, social media, graphic design, video editing, editing and layout to join our Marketing & Communications team. We are located in Dougherty Hall on the University of Tennessee campus.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop social media strategy, content, and manage accounts 
  • Write and distribute press releases
  • Maintain blog
  • Write, design and layout quarterly digital publication 
  • Create marketing assets including brochures, posters, displays and videos
  • Create graphics for social media posts, publications, website, and other materials 
  • Other tasks as assigned

 

Required Skills:

  • Four-year degree in communications, marketing, art, or similar field, or completion of specialized training; plus two years experience in field. Experience may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel, Photoshop, and InDesign
  • Social media account management
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills

 

Desired Skills:

  • Proficiency with graphic design and Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, or other design software 
  • Video editing 
  • Original graphic design experience
  • Ability to accurately focus on tasks for extended periods of time
  • Problem-solving and task organizational skills
  • Basic knowledge of honor societies

 

Additional Information:

The position is for 24-30 hours per week. The work schedule is flexible. Initially, this is an in-office position, but after completion of training (3-4 weeks), the position can become hybrid with at least 18 hours expected in-office each week. Compensation is based on experience and qualifications, but expected to be in the range of $22-28/ hour.
