Planning and Development Internship

The Department of Planning and Development is currently seeking interns for Summer 2024 to assist with projects related to the growth and development of Gwinnett County. This internship will provide valuable experience and a chance to help shape the future of our community. 
 


Essential Duties

  • Assist in Comprehensive Planning: Contribute to the development and implementation of comprehensive plans, zoning regulations, and land use policies that promote smart growth and community resilience.
  • Data Analysis and Research: Conduct research on planning issues, analyze data, and prepare reports to support decision-making processes within the department.
  • Community Engagement: Engage with local communities through outreach efforts, public meetings, and events to gather input on planning initiatives and foster positive relationships.
  • Site Visits and Inspections: Participate in field visits and inspections to understand the practical aspects of planning and development projects.
  • GIS Mapping: Utilize Geographic Information System (GIS) tools to create maps and spatial analyses to support planning activities.

 

Minimum Qualifications
 

  • High School Diploma, or G.E.D.
  • Minimum of one year of college pursing a degree in urban planning, public administration, political science, or a related field.
    • An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above will also be considered.
