Marketing Intern

Title:  Marketing Intern (2 openings)

Internship Program Summary

NMS Labs’ 9-week intern program for undergraduate college students is designed to provide training, exposure, and experience in a key functional area of our business. Interns will work directly with managers and mentors who will contribute to their professional development while helping them build technical and leadership skills. Interns will have the opportunity to engage in leadership development activities, trainings, lab tours, group projects, and networking events.


Internship Highlights

  • 9-week paid internship designed to give practical, real-world experience while working in a leading forensic and clinical laboratory organization.
  • The opportunity to work on business specific projects where Interns will gain knowledge and experience to supplement and strengthen their academic skills.
  • Interaction with various functional teams and various stakeholders across NMS Labs.
  • The assignment of challenging projects and responsibilities that foster innovative thinking and strong problem-solving capabilities.
  • Opportunities to participate in group projects and present findings to senior management.
  • Accountability to two teams – your respective department and your intern peer group.  Department focused responsibilities will account for approximately 85% of your schedule while 15% will focus on professional development sessions, networking activities, group projects, webinars, community service events, etc.
  • There are many advantages to being an NMS Labs Intern, but a favorite will be the summer TGIF program – every Friday during your internship is a half day!

 

Who you are and what you bring?

  • Full time student completing a bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Product Management, Market Research or Data Analysis.
  • Highly motivated student who is ready to apply academic knowledge and principles to an authentic, real-world experience
  • Preferred GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Strong desire and motivation to develop a career as a future business leader
  • Strong quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Self-motivated, dependable, quick learner who works well with others
  • High level of integrity, enthusiasm, and can-do approach
  • Detail-oriented and quality focused
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Excel, with overall strong digital/tech savvy skillset
  • Ability to prioritize workload and self-manage projects, handle multiple tasks, and meet time-sensitive deadlines
  • Legally authorized to work in the US on a fulltime, permanent, and ongoing basis without requiring sponsorship now or in the future

What You’ll Do

Title:  Marketing Intern

Develop an understanding of how marketing plans and materials are developed by honing messaging development, marketing strategy, tactics development and project management skills.

Support the marketing and sale teams in the following activities: 

  • Coordinate and execute marketing strategies, both internal and external.
  • Research competitive offers and work with internal teams to develop effective positioning responses.
  • Execute the development of a series of sales enablement materials (fast facts, sell sheets and infographics) through information gathering across marketing, sales and R&D/operations for relevant content.
  • Draft and review copy and materials prior to distribution.
  • Project management to ensure timely and efficient completion of all projects.

     Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Participates in overall product strategy, research and development requirements, program development, and competitive analysis for new and emerging products.
  • Analyze competitive intelligence information from a variety of sources, synthesize and provide recommendations on areas of threat and opportunity.
  • Conducts market analyses to support development of product portfolio rationalization and product roadmaps.
  • Collaborates with a wide variety of functional areas such as sales, R&D, business intelligence, marketing management, client services, and operations.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to talk, hear, stand, reach with hands and arms, and use hands and fingers to manipulate instrument/equipment controls, computer keyboard, office equipment, objects, or tools
  • Moving from one work location to another to sit and stand, sometimes for extended periods of time.
  • Specific vision abilities (with correction) including color vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
