Reproductive Rights Intern

About Us

Progress Florida and Progress Florida Education Institute are statewide, multi-issue organizations working to create a more progressive Florida. We are an integral part of Florida’s progressive infrastructure, specializing  in policy-driven communication strategies and tactics. One of our major issue areas is reproductive health care, with a particular focus on abortion rights.

Role Description

We are seeking interns, who are strong reproductive rights supporters (pro-choice), and who are full-time degree-seeking students, to be part of a work-learning team at Progress Florida and to support the Floridians for Reproductive Freedom (FRF) coalition.

Interns will gain knowledge on running digital campaigns related to social justice issues; historical and current issues in the reproductive rights, health, and justice movement; persuasive and motivational writing techniques; media relations; graphic design; current news; and political advocacy.  A variety of work-learning opportunities will be offered. For example, Progress Florida and FRF run several social media accounts on platforms that include Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and TikTok. Our interns are part of a creative team producing content for these platforms related to current issues in reproductive health and rights, including abortion access.

Work collaboratively with other interns, staff, and coalition partners to learn how to:

  • Build social media content and strategies to increase digital reach for our priority campaigns.
  • Create engaging content across various social media channels, i.e. Instagram posts & stories, Facebook graphics, and TikToks.
  • Create graphics and social media toolkits for statewide public education campaigns.
  • Capitalize on research skills to stay up to date on reproductive health care trends.
  • Develop projects related to publicity, events, trainings and media outreach.

Time Commitment: 10 hours per week for summer term.

Compensation: $14/hour. Course credit allowed.

Location: St. Petersburg, Florida (Some work will be remote each week and some will be at the program director’s St. Petersburg office, located near Eckerd College.)
