Engineering Post-Secondary Student Trainee

This position will be filled under the Office of Personnel Management (OPM's) Hiring Authority for Post-Secondary Students. NASA Glenn Research Center in Cleveland, Ohio is looking to fill 3 positions under this job posting.

You may be non-competitively converted to a career or career-conditional appointment upon successful completion of an academic program; complete 640 hrs. of continuous employment; meet OPM or Agency specific qualifications for the position; and meet time-in-grade requirements.

Duties

  • Duties described below are at the highest grade advertised. Duties assigned at lower grade levels will be of more limited scope, performed with less independence and limited complexity; duties will be commensurate with the grade of selected employee.
  • Work under the guidance of senior engineers/scientists to support NASA mission operations in groundbreaking design, development, test and evaluation, and/or research work of aerospace technologies that align to your academic studies and interests.
  • Coordinate with related engineering and physical science fields adequate to effectively discuss technical points and to recommend acceptable engineering solutions to problems.
  • Analyze situations, identify problems, probe causes, and recommends courses of action or solutions.
  • Use sound technical judgment and initiative to resolve the challenges of changing conditions and other problems relative to the assigned projects and programs.
