Job Title: Email/SMS Intern
Reports to: Email Manager
Salary: $15/hour with 10 -25 hours per week, generous benefits package
Location: Madison or Milwaukee, WI (Please note: Employment with the Democratic Party of Wisconsin requires residence or willingness to relocate to the state of Wisconsin.)
Start date: April 2023

The Opportunity: As an Email/SMS Intern, you will work within WisDems’ Email and SMS team and assist in executing our highly innovative program. You will learn digital fundraising and mobilization best practices. You will be key in our digital fundraising and volunteer recruitment operations by helping write, code, target, and check content for quality assurance. You will report and work closely with the Email + SMS Director and Email Manager to optimize these efforts and respond to our supporters online. 

Job Responsibilities: 

  • Draft creative and innovative copy (for email and text) and help execute the content calendars with the Email + SMS Director and Email Manager.
  • Assist with email + text quality assurance processes and executing P2P engagement scripts.
  • Collaborate with the Email Manager and broader Digital team to build out the WisDems email programs.
  • Help analyze email metrics daily.
  • Follow national and Wisconsin news closely, participate in strategy meetings and elevate opportunities for potential fundraising and list growth.
  • On year requirements include working outside of normal work hours; including canvassing and other election-preparation as necessary.

  • Writing Skills - Able to draft compelling copy on a deadline and respond to our supporters and audience representing the party
  • Attention to Detail - Ability to follow thorough quality assurance processes for email or text to ensure accuracy. 

Qualifications (Preferred):

  • Progressive Advocacy Interest or Experience - Work experience in progressive clubs or school organizations, Democratic campaigns, or progressive advocacy organizations.
  • Strong Analytical Skills - Knowledge and familiarity with HTML/CSS is a major plus.
