Public Affairs Intern

JOB SUMMARY:

The Green Bay Packers’ Public Affairs team is searching for a self‐motivated, recent college graduate with a bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, or a related field, to intern full time from June 2024 through May 2025. We are looking for someone skilled and ambitious to assist our Public Affairs staff in everyday functions as well as ongoing projects.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assists with the writing, editing and proofreading of press releases and media advisories as needed.
  • Write stories for Packers.com related to community and public affairs topics.
  • Use Cision and other media monitoring platforms to complete media reports to build interesting, helpful media reports for all departments.
  • Build media contacts lists, keeping up-to-date on different outlets and reporters for a variety of topics as needed.
  • Help develop, write, edit and proofread content for internal and external communication pieces, including newsletters and social media for Packers departments and programs as needed, including the Packers Mentor-Protégé Program.
  • Assist with photography and media coverage at events and press conferences as needed.
  • Field inquiries from fans, media and members of the public as needed.
  • Assist with football communications as needed.

 

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Recent college graduate with Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations or a related field.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including writing skills.
  • Proficient in AP Style.
  • Assist internal and external clients in a polite, friendly, and knowledgeable manner.
  • Follow through with projects and requests from start to finish.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office.
  • Availability to work weekends, after-hours and some holidays as needed.  

 

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to walk and stand for extended periods of time throughout the day.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 20 pounds.
  • Ability to reach, stoop, and lift on a frequent basis.
  • Ability to focus on projects for periods of time.
  • Operates in a professional office environment.
  • Role routinely uses standard office equipment.

 

 

SUPERVISES: This position does not have any supervisory responsibility.
