Associate Editor, Advice Products

Your role in helping us shape the future:

The Associate Editor position is part of Advice Products, a team that works on product content such as profile pages, landing pages and methodology pages. The role focuses on content for the Health and Education verticals, and will also work intermittently on content for Careers, Real Estate, Law or other verticals. The primary responsibilities of this role are fact-checking, line editing and copy editing. Other duties include working in a content management system and updating content using SEO best practices. 

This position works closely with many stakeholders, including product managers, technology specialists, SEO professionals and other editors. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented and has a keen eye for proofreading and storytelling.
 

Are you up to the challenge? 

  • Fact-checking.
  • Editing content for flow, consistency and accuracy. 
  • Update existing content and occasionally writing new content. 
  • Applying SEO best practices to improve visibility. 
  • Working in a content management system to enter new content and edit existing articles. 
  • Performing testing to ensure the website functions as expected. 

You should definitely have :

  • One month to 12 months’ of professional editing experience for a digital publication, magazine, or similar entity.
  • Bachelor's degree in journalism or a related field or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience researching and fact-checking content. 
  • Strong copy editing and writing skills. 
  • Ability to edit content for multiple projects simultaneously. 
  • Expertise and experience with AP Style. 
  • Experience working as part of a close-knit team. 
  • Excellent communication and organization skills.
  • Prior experience with deadlines, multitasking and changing direction to meet shifting priorities. 
     

It would be nice if you had:

  • Experience writing and editing health and/or education content. 
  • Experience working within a content management system. 
  • Familiarity with SEO best practices and experience writing and editing for SEO. 
  • Experience with Airtable, Searchmetrics and Google Suite.

The actual base salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, interview performance, and if applicable, the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.
