Compensation: $18.00/hour

Job Overview 
PBS SoCal will be migrating streaming video assets from legacy platforms to our newer providers. The position will require working through a long list of assets that stream on our sites, kcet.org and pbssocal.org, and following guidelines to determine the appropriate new provider of the video stream. The Digital Media Intern will work with the Media Manager to determine the best source assets to encode and repost and will need to ensure the migration of all assets and metadata and the final replacement of web embeds.  

Primary Duties/Responsibilities

  • Work with the Digital Media Manager to audit and prioritize tasks for video content optimization
  • Work through prioritized lists, including updates to metadata, imagery, and related content
  • Review and analyze metrics to make any tactical suggestions
  • Explore opportunities for enhancement on the YouTube platform in particular
  • Help generate video content for platforms including YouTube, primarily from archival materials
  • Conduct independent research as directed; organize and present findings
  • Other duties as required

Qualifications

  • Strong ability to work with new technologies and problem solve, independently or collaboratively
  • High-level proficiency in file format and optimization
  • Strong proficiency with video, photo, and audio editing software
  • Strong understanding of web-based asset management
  • Experience with Adobe CC, video and photo editing software, file conversion, and content management systems for storing, cataloging, and optimizing data is a plus

Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, it is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is also required to stand and walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Work Environment
The working conditions are primarily in a telecommuting setting. However, the position will require occasional meetings in our Burbank, CA, office or a nearby venue. Depending on the position, job duties, and subject to the discretion of the company, the position may be telecommuting eligible in whole or in part.
