Computer Aided Design Drafter 

6+ month contract with potential to go to permanent hire 

Round Lake, IL – Onsite

 

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Computer Aided Design Drafter

to join our team. The ideal candidate needs to be able to perform routine to advanced design and drafting functions in support of various areas such as manufacturing, research, marketing, etc. utilizing appropriate technology or tools such as CAD/CAM/CATAI software, etc. A candidate must not be allergic to Cephalosporin products.

 

 

Job Responsibilities:

  

Under general or minimal supervision, provide drafting services including layout drawings and preparation of detailed blueprints, maps, charts, and graphs from general instruction and/or preliminary sketches, diagrams and schematics.

 

Converts rough product design sketches into working documents by digitizing with CAD/CAM technology or other means.

 

Reviews engineering drawings and supporting documentation to verify adherence to standard practices.

 

Prepare preliminary layouts, designs, and technical illustrations, etc. Utilizing appropriate methods such as CAD/CAM technology or other.

 

Perform routine to moderately complex design and drafting functions in support of various areas. Utilizing appropriate technology or tools such 2D & 3D CAD software, etc.

 

Perform functions in SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and FastLook (viewer & database software).

 

Uses mathematical formulas to check dimensions and tolerances.

 

Learn, understand, and apply rigorous quality standards, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP).

 

Train and mentor other employees.

 

May participate in Continuous Improvement, Project and Safety Teams, Lean Initiatives, Value Stream led activities and defect prevention programs.

 

Sustain a clean and safe work area using 6S principles.

 

Process drawing packages within Critical Work Request workflow.

 

Familiarity with Pharmaceutical-level document control systems.

 

Promote a safe work environment.

 

Education and Experience Requirements:

 

  • Associates degree or equivalent with 1+ years of related experience.
  • Basic understanding of Drafting Standards and Disciplines ie. Piping, Isometric, HVAC, Electrical, P&ID. 
  • Proficient in reading Piping/Mechanical drawings, ability to follow prints in the field
  • Candidate to be knowledgeable in the use of basic machinist hand tools, such as venires, calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, bore and thread gauges.
  • Candidate to be knowledgeable in Blue Print reading. GDT experience a plus.
  • Candidate to have experience with SolidWorks or similar, and AutoCad software. 
  • Must have basic English written and oral communication skills adequate to communicate with other team members.
  • Understand verbal and written safety and quality instructions and read and comprehend written work instructions including words and drawings.
  • Must be able to perform basic mathematics.
  •  

 

Preferred Experience

  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook and the ability to learn/use enterprise software (i.e. POMS and Maximo).
  • A candidate must not be allergic to Cephalosporin products.
  • GDT experience a plus.
