Digital Media and Content Creator

USAID has a fun and creative opportunity for a college or graduate student enrolled in the 2024-2025 academic year.  If you're ready to embark on a journey that combines learning, creativity, and meaningful work, apply by February 29, 2024 on the Open Opps website (link provided below). This virtual (remote) internship will start in September 2024 and go through May 2025.

Note: this is an unpaid internship with a very flexible schedule and the option to receive academic course credit. Students must contact their internship coordinator or academic advisor prior to accepting this or any unpaid internship to determine whether the internship satisfies the school's requirements for earning college credit.

What you'll do

You will serve as the WordPress Content Manager for the U.S. Agency for International Development's Bungee Book Club (BBC) website. Your work will enhance the ongoing learning and professional development of the BBC members.

Your primary responsibility is to manage the BBC website: http://thebbc.info. This entails updating, editing, and publishing content on the public website. You do not need experience managing a website or writing a blog since we use WordPress software. You will be identifying, curating, and posting content on the books selected. You will also be responsible for generating fresh content ideas, writing and editing copy, as well as creating and updating content on the group’s LinkedIn page to enhance membership engagement.

We welcome interns with new ideas on how to manage the website and engage our members. Depending on your specific areas of interests and the skills you want to develop during the internship, the time commitment will range from 2-4 hours per month. In addition to a very manageable workload, the hours are flexible. You complete the work when convenient for you.

What you'll learn

You will learn how to use WordPress - the simplest, most popular way to create your own website or blog. You will have creative influence over the Bungee Book Club website, as your time and imagination permits. You will learn social media content creation, and develop your creative writing skills. You will have the opportunity to develop graphic design skills and engage the BBC community. You will build relationships, make connections, and have the opportunity to network with USAID staff.

How to Apply: Only students who apply through the Virtual Student Federal Service (VSFS) program will be considered. The deadline is Thursday February 29, 2024. The direct link to this VSFS opportunity is: https://openopps.usajobs.gov/internships/6939

VSFS Eligibility: U.S. citizen high school seniors who will be enrolled at least half-time in college during their application and participation are eligible. College freshmen through Ph.D. students are welcome to apply. Because the program is virtual, students can intern from anywhere.
