Sustainability Engineering Intern

About this role 

Our Strategy and Technology Engineering team is accelerating Carrier's sustainability initiatives to reach Net Zero through investments in advanced research, technologies, and design for sustainability methods that will shape the future of our products and services. As an intern, you will help drive the design for the sustainability team to identify the carbon footprint of our products and develop technology roadmaps to reduce our product emissions. This role will be full-time during the Summer of 2024.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Engage with business unit product engineering, management, and supply chain teams to identify data sources for full Life Cycle Assessment.
  • Analyze the energy and carbon footprint of Carrier's HVAC&R systems.
  • Data visualizations and written reports to communicate analyses to various stakeholders.
  • Attend company functions, lunch and learns, and networking events.

 

Required Qualifications

  • Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field
  • 3.0 or higher GPA
  • Must be eligible to work in the US without sponsorship

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant coursework or previous internships are preferred
  • Knowledge of HVAC/refrigeration products (preferred but not required)
  • Sustainability Mindset
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to solve challenging and complex problems
  • Knowledgeable in LCA/environmental audit tools
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Self-driven and proactive
