Legal Assistant – Immigration Law Firm

We are looking for a Legal Assistant to assist in the preparation of our cases. The role will primarily be involved with completing administrative projects and preparing immigration cases.

Job duties include: 

  • Prepare correspondence and other case components in a timely and accurate manner;
  • Manage and/or maintain calendar by scheduling appointments and meetings;
  • Draft immigration forms for a variety of immigration processes with EOIR, USCIS, DOL, and DOS;
  • Organize case filings and prepare exhibits;
  • Engage in administrative duties such as copying and interfiling;
  • Utilize immigration case management system to ensure client data is up-to-date and accurate;
  • Assist with the client filing system by pulling and providing physical case files, completing interfiling, and refiling cases, as needed;
  • Reopen and close files, as needed;
  • Aid in locating and pulling files from storage areas;
  • Assist and fill in for front desk manager by answering incoming calls and greeting clients in the office, as needed;
  • Adhere to our firm’s internal timelines, checklists, and procedures;
  • Maintain friendly and professional interactions with clients and coworkers; collaborate with multiple attorneys and staff; attend staff meetings and participate in firm events, as required; and
  • Act in a respectful and professional manner to all clients, and maintain client confidentiality.

Requirements:

  • Must be organized and detail oriented
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook
  • Experience working with people of culturally diverse backgrounds and of diverse economic culture
  • Ability to withhold and maintain confidential information
  • Second language experience is a plus
